Meet Sophie.
Hi, I’m Sophie, a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor. I am passionate about mental health and emotional wellbeing, which can sometimes be overlooked in the demands of our busy modern lives. I believe that counselling and meaningful self-care can be empowering and help develop a deeper understanding of yourself.
I work in an integrative and person-centred way, tailoring sessions to your individual needs. I offer empathic, non-judgemental support within a safe and confidential space, exploring your experiences at a pace that feels right for you to support reflection, growth, and meaningful change.
I have experience working with clients from a range of backgrounds and with issues including low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, family dynamics, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and the impact of trauma or abuse.
I am a member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and practise in accordance with their ethical framework. I am also a qualified hypnotherapist and a registrant member of the National Hypnotherapy Society. Where appropriate, we can discuss whether hypnotherapy may be incorporated into your sessions.
Outside of my practice, I enjoy reading, watching sport and live music, travelling, and experiencing different cultures.

Informal chat
I offer a free, no-obligation 20-minute informal chat by telephone or online (via Zoom).
This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about counselling, discuss what you would like to work on, and decide whether we feel like the right fit to work together before making a commitment.
What does therapy look like?
Starting therapy can feel daunting, and I offer compassionate support throughout your journey. In our early sessions, we will explore your goals and consider which therapeutic approaches may feel most helpful, reviewing these as your needs evolve.
As a person-centred counsellor, I provide a safe space where you can bring whatever feels important. I won’t push you to discuss specific issues, but may gently reflect or ask questions to support insight and self-awareness. My role is to walk alongside you and support you at your own pace.
How long will we work together?
Counselling is tailored to you, so the length of therapy will depend on your individual needs, circumstances, and preferences.
We will regularly review your progress together to ensure your needs are being met, and discuss next steps, including when and how to end therapy.
Some clients also find occasional top-up sessions helpful after ending, which can be arranged if needed.
