Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Youth Mental Health First Aid (RQF)

Young people face increasing pressures that can impact their mental health. This nationally recognised qualification equips participants with the knowledge and confidence to recognise early signs of mental health challenges and provide appropriate support.

The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Youth Mental Health First Aid (RQF) helps learners develop an understanding of the common mental health issues affecting young people and how to respond in a supportive and practical way.

​

Participants will learn how to listen effectively, have supportive conversations, and signpost young people to appropriate sources of help and guidance.

Course Overview

This course is designed for anyone aged 16 or over who wants to improve their awareness and understanding of youth mental health.

It is particularly beneficial for:

  • Teachers and school staff

  • Youth workers

  • Parents and carers

  • Coaches and mentors

  • Workplace wellbeing champions

  • Anyone supporting young people

By completing this course, learners gain the skills needed to identify, understand, and respond to mental health concerns in young people.

What You Will Learn

During the course, participants will explore:

  • Understanding mental health in young people

  • The role and responsibilities of a Youth Mental Health First Aider

  • Common mental health conditions affecting young people, including:

    • Stress

    • Anxiety

    • Depression

  • How to use a Mental Health First Aid action plan

  • How to guide young people towards appropriate professional support

The course focuses on building practical confidence to support, listen and respond appropriately when young people are experiencing difficulties.

Certification: Valid for 3 years
Regulation: Ofqual regulated qualification
